Junior world No. 1 Jimenez Kasintseva lands first ITF pro title
She is one of the brightest young talents in the junior game, and now Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva has notched her first big milestone in professional tennis on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
The 16-year-old Andorran, the current junior world No. 1 and 2020 Australian Open girls’ singles champion, won her first ITF women’s title on Brazilian clay at W25 Aparecida de Goiania on Sunday.
Jimenez Kasintseva didn’t drop a set all week, overcoming world No. 116 Panna Udvardy, of Hungary, 6-3 7-5 in the title match.
Despite her tender years the left-hander proved she can mix it with established pros with her run to the final at an ITF W60 tournament in Gran Canaria in mid-August and she continued her upward trajectory with her landmark maiden title win over the weekend.
She punched her arms skywards in delight after her triumph in Brazil, later posting on Instagram: “First pro title. All the hard work paid off”.
Jimenez Kasintseva is one of 15 players who have received support from the ITF’s junior player grants programme in 2021- an initiative that enables eligible players to receive up to $25,000 per season to assist with their costs.

Jimenez Kasintseva's win follows on from the flying start to professional tennis made by fellow 16-year-old and boys' world No. 1 Juncheng Shang, who spoke to itftennis.com at the end of October to reflect on winning his first three men's titles in a five-week spell.
Fellow top five junior Diana Schnaider also won her maiden pro title over the weekend, triumphing at W15 Antalya.
The 17-year-old Russian, who had never previously been beyond the second round in her four professional tournament appearances, went all the way to the title in Turkey, defeating Slovenian Pia Lovric 6-3 6-2 in the final.
Schnaider, who reached the girls’ singles semi-finals at Roland Garros in June, also enjoyed her first WTA match-win in October, making the most of her wild card entry in her victory over Kamilla Rakhimova on home soil in Moscow.
Elsewhere, 19-year-old Zhuoxuan Bai continued her prolific run of form in Sharm El Sheikh, where she has won her first four professional tournaments at W15 level in the space of five weeks. The former junior world No. 9 goes for title No. 5 at the same venue this week.
Meanwhile Anna Bondar took the biggest title of the week, winning her second straight title – and third of the year – after winning at W60+H Santiago.
The 24-year-old Hungarian defeated Veronica Cepede Royg 6-2 6-3 in the final in the Chilean capital to extend her winning run to 10 matches following her victory at the WTA 125K Series event in Buenos Aires the previous week.
There were also wins last week for Irina Fetecau, who won at W25 Daytona Beach, and for Katarina Kuzmova, Olga Helmi, Martha Matoula and Adithya Karunaratne, who all won tournaments at W15 level.
The action continues on the ITF World Tennis Tour this week with nine tournaments, including three at W25 level. Follow all the latest scores here.
