ITF's Rio 2016 magazine published online
A commemorative magazine, 'Love Rio', has been published online by the ITF to celebrate the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Tennis Events.
This 32-page magazine, available online only, takes us back to the high drama and excitement that played out three months ago at the Rio 2016 Olympic Tennis Event.
Over nine days of competition in the Barra Olympic Park there were shocks, surprises, hard-fought battles and almost unbearable tension for players and fans from around the world. A month later the Paralympic Tennis Event gave us another eight days of passionate, high-stakes competition.
"As the 2016 season reaches its closing stages, this publication is a timely reminder of one of the high points of the tennis year, when our players experienced the incredible highs and lows of representing their countries in the Olympic and Paralympic Games," said ITF President David Haggerty.
"Those of us lucky enough to be there know what an electrifying event it was, and we're delighted to be able to share its best moments, captured in stunning photography, with a wider audience.
The digital magazine has as its cover star Monica Puig, who made history in Rio by winning Puerto Rico's first Olympic gold medal, and becoming her country's first female medallist. She is joined inside by Great Britain's Andy Murray, who became the first player in history to win a second Olympic singles gold medal. All 23 Olympic tennis medallists are featured, as are all 20 Paralympic tennis medal winners.
Rio 2016 marked the eighth appearance of tennis as a full Olympic sport since it returned to the Games at Seoul 1988. Paralympic tennis was contested for the seventh time since its debut at Barcelona 1992.
