ITF World Tennis Tour Player of the Month: Nuria Brancaccio
Nuria Brancaccio has been named ITF World Tennis Tour Player of the Month for July after winning two titles in the best period of her career so far.
The 25-year-old Italian was nominated alongside Philip Henning, Darja Vidmanova and Nikola Bartunkova - with Brancaccio coming out on top in a fan vote held across the ITF website and Instagram stories.
"I am very happy to have been chosen for this award and I really want to thank all the people that voted for me," said Brancaccio.
"It has been a really good month, with a lot of matches and reaching my best ranking motivates me to keep going. I am really looking forward for what's coming next."
Heading into July, Brancaccio had never won a title above W35 level - but this was not to be the case for much longer.
She kicked off in impressive fashion at W75 Bucharest where she reached the final. She lost here to Tamara Zidansek in straight sets - but that was the last time she lost throughout the month on the World Tennis Tour.
The following week, she carried her momentum into W50 Aschaffenburg, where she went on to claim her first ever title at that level.
Brancaccio's career-best win was a big step forward, but she did not stop there and ended the month on home soil at W75 Cordenons.
This was where she won the biggest title of her career - emphatically defeating Veronika Erjavec 6-2 6-1 in the final to get over the line.
It was undoubtedly a month full of success and significant progress for Brancaccio, who will be very confident heading into the remaining months of the season.

Brancaccio is currently world No. 163 in the live WTA rankings and is expected to reach a new career-high when the rankings update next week.
Given the form and momentum she has right now, it will not be surprising to see her continue to reach new heights in the sport going forward.
