ITF World Tennis Tour Player of the Month: Janice Tjen
Janice Tjen has been named ITF World Tennis Tour Player of the Month for May after an impressive run of form saw her claim two titles and tally the second-most match-wins on tour.
The Indonesian was nominated alongside Oleksandra Oliynykova, Carol Young Suh Lee and Yan Bai - with Tjen winning in a fan vote held across the ITF website and Instagram stories.
"I’m really honored to be voted Player of the Month," said Tjen. "I want to thank my team and family for always being there and supporting me on this journey."
The 23-year-old made a strong start to May, reaching the final at W35 Goyang. She lost that encounter in three sets - but her wait for a first title of the season would not go on for much longer.
The following week, Tjen played W35 Goyang once again. After battling through the early rounds, the Indonesian stormed her way to the title where she defeated Lin Zhu in the final.
After winning her first tournament of the year, Tjen went on to reach the semi-finals at W35 Changwon before she headed to W35 Andong.
Here, she picked up her second title of the month and ninth overall - having won seven World Tennis Tour titles in 2024.
Tjen was barely challenged on her to victory in Andong - claiming the title without dropping a set.
This impressive run ended her May in style - finishing the month with 16 wins and just two losses.

Tjen is steadily climbing up the WTA rankings and is currently at a career-high of 294 - but is expected to be closer to the 250 mark when the rankings are released next week.
If the talented Indonesian carries her recent momentum into the rest of the year, there's no doubt that she will continue this exceptional rise.
