ITF World Tennis Tour Player of the Month: Dane Sweeny

09 Oct 2025

Dane Sweeny has been named ITF World Tennis Tour Men's Player of the Month for September after winning two consecutive titles at M25 Tamworth.

The 24-year-old Australian, who also won Player of the Month for August, was nominated alongside Max Basing, Daniel Vallejo and Kaichi Uchida - with Sweeny coming out on top in a fan vote held across the ITF website and Instagram stories.

“I’ve been carrying the boats and the logs for a while now so it’s nice to see my work paying off with this award,” said Sweeny.

It has been a period of consistent winning for Sweeny, who has won more titles than any male player on the World Tennis Tour this year with seven - all coming since July.

After securing three straight titles in August, he carried his electric form into September.

Sweeny kicked off the month by winning the title at M25 Tamworth, where had had to come through three consecutive three-setters to clinch victory - defeating compatriot Marc Polmans in the final.

The following week in Tamworth proved easier with four straight-set victories, culminating with a comfortable 6-2 6-1 win over Matthew Dellavedova to seal a second title in a row.

Sweeny is climbing his way back up the ATP rankings and gaining more confidence as each week passes.

At the time of writing, his live ranking is world No. 251 - inching closer to his career-high of 194 which he set in February 2024.

If he continues this rich vein of form, the Australian could well find himself back inside the top 200 by the end of the season.
