ITF Beach Tennis World Cup entries confirmed
The best beach tennis nations in the world will descend on Copacabana beach in November for the ITF Beach Tennis World Cup, with 16 nations now confirmed.
With Brazil qualified as hosts, also entered from South America are Chile and Venezuela. 2021 runners-up Italy are joined by fellow Europeans Spain, France, Germany, Latvia, Poland and Portugal. Curacao, USA and Puerto Rico make up the teams from North America & the Caribbean, with the teams rounded out by Japan and Thailand from Asia and Africa being represented by South Africa.
Last year’s competition saw Brazil clinch a thrilling final over Italy in front of a boisterous home crowd for their third title in a row and fourth overall. Italy will be keen to exact revenge with world number ones Giulia Gasparri and Ninny Valentini, who have picked up a tour-leading seven titles this year as a pair, among the team.
Brazil’s team includes newcomers Allan Oliveira and Vitoria Marchezini who have both enjoyed stellar years picking up their biggest titles at the BT400 Marechal Deodoro and the 2021 Sand Series Brasilia respectively over the last 12 months.
The Junior competition will feature teams from eight nations with Brazil, Italy, France, Spain, Venezuela, Germany, Chile and Poland all entered. Last year’s final came down to the wire, with Italy triumphing over Brazil in a deciding mixed doubles match on the final day of competition.
The ITF Beach Tennis World Cup is the flagship annual team competition on the ITF Beach Tennis World Tour and will take place in Rio de Janeiro from 8–13 November.
