Gianotti & Spoto and Chow & Marchezini Triumph at Sand Series Finals

08 Dec 2025

The 2025 ITF Beach Tennis Sand Series Tour Finals delivered a dramatic conclusion in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, as the world’s top teams closed out eight days of elite competition and rising star talent.

This year’s edition introduced a new tradition: all Tour Finals groups were named after Sand Series $100,000 tournaments, while the New Wave invitational groups followed the Sand Series $75,000 theme.

The event featured a record $125,000 prize pool - the largest in Sand Series history.

In the men’s event, France's Nicolas Gianotti and Italy’s Mattia Spoto completed a flawless run, winning all five matches to defend their 2024 title.

The pair looked on course for a routine victory against local favourites André Baran and Felipe Loch, racing through the first set 6-1 and leading 5-3 in the second before the Brazilians staged a spirited late push.

Baran and Loch levelled at 5-5, but Spoto and Gianotti held firm at a deciding point for 6-5, and the top seeds broke Baran and Loch from 30-0 down to seal the championship on their sixth match point.

The women’s final mirrored the day’s tense momentum swings. Brazil’s Sophia Chow and Vitoria Marchezini, who narrowly escaped elimination in the round-robin stage, rose to the occasion to capture their first Sand Series Tour Finals crown.

The duo overcame compatriot Rafaella Miiller and Patricia Diaz - finalists in both editions - with a composed 6-3 7-6 victory, closing out the match on their sixth match point after letting a 5-2 second set lead slip.

Their triumph capped a standout week that saw them eliminate the top seeds in the semi-finals and underline their growing presence among the sport’s elite.

Brazil continues to be a major hub for Beach Tennis, hosting 14 of the 20 top-tier events in 2025, including three ITF Sand Series tournaments, the Tour Finals and the upcoming ITF Beach Tennis World Cup (9–14 December), which will close out the 2025 season.
