France and the United States have been crowned 2025 ITF World Junior Tennis champions meaning they are the best teams on the planet in the 14-and-under age category.

France were crowned ITF World Junior Tennis boys’ champions for the first time since 2005 – it is their fourth title overall – following a 2-0 win over the United States at the TK Plus Arena in Prostejov, Czechia.

As they have all week, Mario Vukovic and Samuel Dakessian were in sparkling form and won their singles matches against Indra Vergne and Tristan Ascenzo to power their nation to an emphatic victory.

Dakessian, Vukovic, Evan Giurescu and captain Gerald Bremond deserve huge credit for a stunning victory, while the celebrations of the players after advancing to the final and subsequently lifting silverware showed how much it meant.

“We are very proud,” said Bremond. “We have had some good teams in the past, but we didn’t manage to win so often. It has been long time since we won, and we wanted to do it.

“The players wanted to do it so much and we are very proud. It is a story of friends. They have all known each other for a long time. They have learnt many things together and this story is beautiful.”

Dakessian added: “It was a very tough and intense week. We started well and won our three group matches and then moved onto the knockouts. We are all very happy with the win, we are all best friends and we are so happy to win here.”

In the girls’ event, the United States came from behind to defeat Canada and claim their eighth ITF World Junior Tennis title, which places them joint-top of the all-time list of winners alongside Czechia and Russia.

Canada had surged into a 1-0 lead as Tessa Puente outmanoeuvred Olivia de los Reyes in the opening singles before Emery Combs recovered from a set down to beat Isabella Ruyu Yan in the second.

That levelled matters and sent the tie to a deciding doubles, which Combs and De los Reyes safely navigated to ensure the United States sealed their first ITF World Junior Tennis girls’ title since 2017.

“We had a tough start [losing to Brazil] but I feel that brought us together,” said captain Celeste Frey.

“We tried to figure out a way we should play. We knew we would still have chances, and we knew we needed to be a team and support each other, regardless of who is on the court.

“These girls have known each other since they were young, so the chemistry is there. It was a good learning moment that brought us closer together.”

Combs added: “It was a really great moment, playing for the team, especially after that first day. We’ve worked very hard and have done so well. I am so happy and I am so proud to do this for the USA.”
