In the women’s game, three W60 tournaments took place, two in Europe - in Germany and Poland - and the third in the United States.
Austrian Fed Cup player Barbara Haas, who took the title in Hechingen, Germany in her second W60 final of 2019 having also reached the final in Rome two months earlier, collected the biggest title win of her pro career to date and first title win since last December.
Another Fed Cup player to triumph was Poland’s Maja Chwalinska. The 17-year-old’s win came in her homeland’s capital the day after securing the doubles title alongside Ulrikke Eikeri and was her third career singles title, with all three coming in 2019. Both victories have seen her climb the WTA singles and doubles rankings to career high rankings of 192 and 264, respectively.
In the US state of Pennsylvania, former WTA world No. 35 Madison Brengle, won her second W60 tournament in three weeks, having also triumphed in Berkeley, CA in mid-July, and made a successful defence of her W60 Landisville title. Brengle, 29, also won here in 2013 when the tournament was a $25,000 event.
