Dwight Global Tennis Travel Team showcasing education in every sense
The Dwight Global Tennis Travel Team has concluded its season following tours to the Virgin Islands, Barcelona and Dominican Republic.
Launched in September 2023 by Dwight Global Online School, the official education partner of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, the Dwight Global Travel Tennis Team has grown in the intervening period – and enjoyed success.
The programme provides junior players with opportunities to compete at high-level international tournaments while offering a team experience that supports their athletic ambitions and academic performance.
Alongside coaches Camilo Erazo and Mihai Grec, the team has created wonderful experiences on and off court. The student-athletes are able to compete at various ITF level events, visit new places and immerse themselves in local culture, food, art and traditions.
This year’s Dwight Global Travel Tennis Team players have come from all over the world, representing the United States, Hong Kong, Romania, United Kingdom and Korea, Rep..
Several members of the team have this year made their debuts on the ITF World Tennis Tour. Among them, Madelyn Chang (DG ’27) competed at a J30 event in Dominican Republic alongside her brother, Jaylen (DG ’27).
Following a wild card into the main draw, Madelyn won her first-round match and earned her first ITF ranking point.
Ronin Spahn, meanwhile, has been a part of all three tours.
"The Travel Team has been great," said Spahn.
"I have won matches and played some of my best tennis, while I have really enjoyed the team practices. It has been a lot of fun and I am looking forward to participating in more trips."
