Draws made for Wheelchair Tennis Singles and Doubles Masters in Oss
World No.2 Shingo Kunieda and world No.10 Joachim Gerard, who have won seven of the last nine men’s titles between them at the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Singles Masters, will contest one of Sunday’s four centre court live stream matches on the opening day of this year’s tournament in Oss, the Netherlands.
Kunieda and Gerard are drawn alongside Gustavo Fernandez and Tom Egberink in a fascinating round-robin Group B at the year-end singles championship on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
Reigning Singles Masters champion Alfie Hewett and British Open finalist Martin de la Puente will contest one of the first two round-robin matches in Group A, which will also see Singles Masters debutant Tokito Oda face Takuya Miki in an all-Japanese contest.
Women’s singles Group B will see three former Masters champions battle it out for a place in the semi-finals later in the week, with world No.3 and 2014 champion Aniek van Koot playing three-time champion Jiske Griffioen in the first all-Dutch contest of the week.
World No.2 Yui Kamiji, the only non-Dutch player to have ever won the women’s singles title, plays Britain’s Lucy Shuker first in Group B. Between them, Griffioen, Kamiji and Van Koot won every Singles Masters women’s title from 2012 through to 2016.
World No.1 Diede de Groot will begin her bid for a fifth successive NEC Wheelchair Singles Masters title with a Group A match against Japan’s Momoko Ohtani, one of just two players, along with Kamiji, to have beaten De Groot since the start of October 2020.
Kgothatso Montjane and Zhenzhen Zhu will open proceedings on centre court on the first day of play at the Sportcentrum De Rusheuvel.
Eleven-time champion David Wagner will face Singles Masters debutant Donald Ramphadi in the first Group A quad singles match on centre court, with Group A also featuring world No.1 and defending champion Niels Vink and Brazil’s Ymanitu Silva.
Quad singles Group B will see Masters debutant Robert Shaw take on 2021 finalist Sam Schroder, with former finalist Andy Lapthorne playing Heath Davidson in a rematch of this year's British Open quad singles final.
All Doubles Masters matches will begin on Monday’s second day of play in Oss.
