Does American junior Jordan Lee look like football star Lamine Yamal?

There was a game of lookalikes in the Wimbledon media centre as Jordan Lee and his coach agreed that their interviewer pays a passing resemblance to Untied States football coach Maurico Pochettino.

But that was only after references were made to Lee going viral as the American tennis prodigy was likened to Barcelona football superstar Lamine Yamal, who is currently starring for Spain at the Fifa World Cup.

Posts began to circulate in November 2025, shortly after Lee became only the second player born in 2010 to earn an ATP point as he continued his journey along the player pathway. You can certainly see why comparisons between the two have been drawn.

“When I first saw the post, I was pretty excited,” said Lee. “A lot of my friends had already said I look like him and then the post came out of nowhere. It was funny for us because we had been saying it for the last couple of months and then it blew up.

“He is one of my favourite football players, so that is pretty cool. My main goal, however, is to be compared because of how good we are at what we do, not because of looks. He is pretty unreal at what he does, and I am trying to be the same.”

Lee is currently competing at a Junior Grand Slam for the first time in his fledgling career and has surged into the Junior Championships, Wimbledon quarter-finals following a 6-4 6-7(4) 6-3 victory over fellow American Tanishk Konduri.

The 16-year-old, who is the youngest competitor in the boys’ draw, will now face India’s Arnav Paparker for a place in the semis, while Cruz Hewitt – son of Lleyton – could be a potential future opponent.

Focusing on Paparkar, the 18-year-old spoke incredibly eloquently about picking up a racket for the first time and being in disbelief that he now plays in a Grand Slam setting such as Wimbledon.

An intriguing battle awaits with Lee keen to boost his burgeoning reputation with a deep run on his Grand Slam debut, adding to the four titles he has won on the World Tennis Tour Juniors.

The teenager has also gained experience within professional tennis on the World Tennis Tour and he earned the ATP point which sparked the Yamal comparisons at M15 Orlando in Florida in November.

That was shortly after Lee was part of the United States team – alongside Michael Antonius and Andrew Johnson – crowned Davis Cup Junior champions in Santiago, Chile – the nation’s second win in as many years.

Lee is building himself a strong résumé and one he has every intention of adding to in the coming days. “So far, I am having a good tournament, and I will do what I can to stay fit and keep winning.”

No doubt – and he will do so with the aura of a global football megastar.
