Dates for 2020 ITF World Participation Conference confirmed

17 Feb 2020

The ITF can today confirm that the third edition of the ITF World Participation Conference will take place at Chelsea Football Club’s Stamford Bridge stadium in London on 5-6 July 2020.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Innovating to drive participation in sport’, which reflects the rate at which innovation and digitalisation is becoming increasingly significant in strategies to engage people in sport and physical activity.

Key topics will include data utilisation, digital strategies to boost participation and retention rates, the impact of major sporting events on maximising participation, the importance of the deliverer and customised competition structures to ensure engagement with all playing standards.

An interactive environment will allow delegates to listen to presentations from leading international experts, share best practice and partake in discussions centred on the core principles of the event: growing tennis and sport worldwide across all ages, genders, playing standards and physical abilities.

The conference will enlist stakeholders from across the sporting spectrum as the conversation which was started in 2018 at the inaugural event continues, develops and expands.

Registration for the conference will open in early March. Registration details will be shared with all stakeholders in advance and made available here

The previous two editions of the ITF World Participation Conference have attracted close to 400 delegates from 72 nations, comprising key decision-makers who have responsibility for delivering their national tennis development strategies.

In that time, more than 60 speakers have presented, covering topics such as measuring insight, the health and wellbeing benefits of participation, attracting more women to sport and combatting social barriers. National Associations from across the globe have also discussed their strategies for increasing participation and retention rates.

The list of international sports federations to have attended the event is extensive and distinguished, while keynote speakers have included 39-time Grand Slam winner Billie Jean King and former Great Britain Fed Cup captain Judy Murray.

Further information about the conference and this year’s keynote speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
