By defeating home favourite Priscilla Hon in the second round at the Australian Open, former junior world No. 2 Iva Jovic has reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

Melbourne is clearly a place which means a great deal to Jovic after she was crowned Australian Open girls’ doubles champion in 2024 after she and Tyra Grant conquered all before them.

The 18-year-old was a key member of the USA teams crowned Billie Jean King Cup Juniors champions in 2022 and 2023. From there, she continued her development on the ITF World Tennis Tour – both Juniors and Women’s.

During 2025 she lifted silverware at W100 Charlottesville before proceeding to win the maiden WTA singles title of her career at the Guadalajara Open. She is now very much making her mark on the Grand Slam stage.

Italy's Jasmine Paolini awaits in round three.
