Arnaboldi, Juarez and Kumar claim maiden ITF singles titles
Federico Arnaboldi, Facundo Juarez and Omni Kumar recorded the standout wins on the men’s ITF World Tennis Tour last week after claiming their maiden professional singles titles.
Arnaboldi, a 21-year-old Italian qualifier, beat five of his countrymen – including Riccardo Balzerani in the title match – to claim his first ITF singles crown at M15 Bergamo.
Juarez, a 23-year-old Argentine, followed a similar pattern, beating three fellow Argentines – including Francisco Comesana in the title match – to win his first ITF title at M15 Antalya.
American Kumar, 19, completed the group of first-time winners after winning eight matches on the bounce to win the title as a qualifier at M15 Monastir and achieve the first milestone moment of his fledgling career.
Kumar – who broke in to the Top 1000 last week – defeated Italian Luciano Darderi in the title match, denying the former junior world No. 8 back-to-back titles a week after emerging from the same venue with his first career crown.
Kumar was one of two Americans two claim ITF titles over the weekend along with Nicolas Moreno De Alboran, who won at M25 Klosters after beating Italian Francesco Forti.
Despite Forti’s defeat, it was a good week for Italians – with Franco Agamenone joining first-time champion Arnaboldi in winning a title.
Dutchman Jelle Sells avoided any mid-match wobbles to claim his first title since 2018 – and fourth overall – at M25 Alkmaar, while Australian former world No. 91 Jason Kubler won on American soil at M15 Champaign.
