Russian teenager Erika Andreeva won her second title on the ITF World Tennis Tour on Sunday to continue the promising start to her professional career.

The 16-year-old, who also won on Bulgarian soil in November at W15 Pazardzhik, defeated Carolina Meligeni Rodriguez Alves 6-1 6-3 in a 79-minute singles final at W15 Cairo.

Andreeva has played just three tournaments in 2020, all on clay, and won two of them either side of a quarter-final run as a qualifier at another W15 event in Cairo.

A Top 50-ranked junior with five junior titles to her name, Andreeva’s triumph over the weekend saw her improve to a 15-3 career win-loss record on the ITF World Tennis Tour since playing her first professional match 12 months ago.

Elsewhere Yuliya Hatouka, 20, overcame another promising teen to collect her third title of the year at W15 Monastir.

The Belarusian defeated 15-year-old Czech Linda Fruhvirtova 6-1 5-7 6-3 for her seventh ITF singles title overall.

Fruhvirtova ended a run of five first-round defeats in professional events to reach her first professional singles final in a standout run that took in four straight-set wins – including the semi-final upset of last week’s Monastir champion Carole Monnet.

It was the second time Fruhvirtova has won back-to-back matches at pro level, with her previous best performance a quarter-final run at W25 Altenkirchen in March.

Fruhvirtova and her younger sister Brenda, 13, are fast-becoming ones to watch on the global tennis scene. The pair guided Czech Republic to the title at the 2019 ITF World Junior Tennis Finals, and have each won their first junior titles at J2 level over the past two seasons.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s Ipek Oz, 21, won the final women’s event of the week, achieving her third career triumph at W15 Antalya, following wins in 2017 and 2019, with a 6-1 6-1 victory over Andreea Amalia Rosca in the final.

The emphatic defeat was quite the return to earth for the 21-year-old Romanian, who was riding a 14-match winning streak going into the title match following back-to-back titles at W15 Heraklion.
