“It’s a good story!” acknowledged the amiable Ana Geller with a smile.

The Argentine teenager was referring to her brother Axel, who curtailed his junior career in style last year, finishing as world No. 1. Last month he toppled Sebastian Korda to win the Edwardsville Futures Tournament for a maiden professional tournament title.

Now Ana, competing in white and blue at the Junior Fed Cup Final in Budapest, would relish following in her brother’s footsteps onto the pro circuit.

“He obviously doesn’t fire his serve full power at me, I’ve hit with him a couple of times, but I just enjoy hanging out with him, we really get along,” explained the 16-year-old, who is eager to tap into Axel’s methods for success.

“On court he’s been amazing, he’s played the Grand Slams before me and he has a lot of experience. He’s three years older and has already made two Grand Slam finals. He finished his junior career as world No. 1, which is pretty big. Of course, I’d love to do that.

“I take in everything he tells me about big moments, big matches, dealing with different atmospheres, he’s been really helpful. I think he enjoys it too.”

Ana can’t wait to go and visit her sibling in America, where he is combining his tennis training with his studies at Stanford University. However, for now, Geller has her focus fully on Argentina’s title pursuit in Hungary.

“I’m really excited to be here. I’ve always loved playing for my country and I was lucky enough to play this event last year,” added Ana. “It’s one of my favourite events so I can’t wait to get out there.”

Geller impressed in her opening singles encounter on Tuesday, ousting Indonesia’s Nugroho Priska Madelyn 6-3 6-4.

“We’re a big hitting team. I believe I’m a pretty aggressive player. I go for my shots, I trust my game and will always look to dictate play,” said the south American describing her game style.

Despite that singles triumph, Geller and partner Julia Riera fell in the decisive doubles and s Indonesia, which is making its debut at the Junior Fed Cup Finals, prevailed 2-1 in the nations’ opening round robin clash.

Argentina have plenty to overhaul to reach the quarterfinals, but Geller is optimistic of her nation’s capabilities in Budapest.

“It’s really important that we feel united and play as part of a team, to feel comfortable with each other, to support each other. We just have to try and do our best out on court, leave it all out there and leave the Argentina flag as high as possible.”

Mariana Diaz Oliva’s squad take on Canada on Wednesday, knowing victory is vital to keep their Junior Fed Cup title dreams alive.
