2024 BNP Paribas World Team Cup set for bumper qualifications week

With South Africa’s men’s and women’s teams having already qualified for the 2024 BNP Paribas World Team Cup World Group, this weekend brings the biggest few days yet for the latest edition of the ITF’s flagship wheelchair tennis team event, with the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Americas Qualification, Asian Qualification and European Qualification all nearing their final stages.

Three men’s, three women’s and two quad teams will book their ticket to the 2024 BNP Paribas World Team Cup World Group event in Antalya, Türkiye, due to take place from 7-12 May.

There is live scoring at all three qualification events, which can be accessed via the tournament pages for each event on the ITF website, while live streaming is available each day for the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Asian Qualification in Thailand and the Americas Qualification in Peru. Live streaming is expected to be available for the last two days of the European Qualification

All three tournament pages are being updated throughout the week with the latest draws, results and live stream links 

Seeding for each qualification is based on the world rankings of 11 March 2024.

BNP Paribas World Team Cup Americas Qualification

Peru, 13-17 March

Seven men’s teams and five women’s team from a total of seven countries are contesting the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Americas Qualification in Peru.

Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru and Uruguay are among the men’s teams bidding to qualify for the World Group in Antalya, Turkey, while Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and host nation Peru are contesting the women’s event.

Colombia's world No. 10 Angelica Bernal is among the star players in action in the women's draw in Peru, while world No. 13 Alexander Cataldo is among the players in Chile's men's team. 

BNP Paribas World Team Cup European Qualification

Latvia, 13-17 March

Thirteen men’s teams, six women’s teams and six quad teams across a total of 17 countries are contesting the BNP Paribas World Team Cup European Qualification, which is being hosted for the first time in Latvia.

Former world No. 1 and Rio Paralympic bronze medallist Joachim Gerard is the highest ranked player in the men's draw as he leads the Belgian team, while veteran Martin Legner, the most capped men's player in World Team Cup history, is among the players in Austria's men's team.

Switzerland's world No. 22 and former Cruyff Foundation Junior Masters champion Nalani Buob is among the leading players for the women's event, while Rio Paralympic silver medallist and 17-time Grand Slam champion Andy Lapthorne leads former World Team Cup champions Great Britain leading into the semi-finals in the quad event.

BNP Paribas World Team Cup Asian Qualification

Thailand, 14-18 March

This year’s BNP Paribas World Team Cup Asian Qualification incorporate a combined quad event with two teams from the Americas.

Quad teams from Canada and Chile will join teams from Australia, Korea Republic, Thailand and Chinese Taipei for the one combined draw, with the winners earning qualification for the World Group in Turkey.

Nine men’s teams and four women’s teams also compete in Thailand.

Australia, China, P.R., India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Korea Republic, Malaysia, Pakistan and Thailand all bid to qualify from the men’s draw, while India, Kazakhstan, Korea Republic and Thailand contest the women’s draw in Thailand. 

World No. 16 Ho Won Im and world No. 18 Zhenxu Ji, one of the most prolific winners during the 2023 UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour wih eight titles, lead the Korea Republic and Chinese men's teams, respectively, while fomer Asian Para Games gold medallist Sakhorn Khanthasit represents Thailand's women's team.

Australia's world No. 8 Heath Davidson, Canada's world No. 9 Robert Shaw and Chile's world No. 10 are all among the players for the combined quad draw.
