ITF Tour FAQs

This page contains detailed information on questions related to each of the Tour regulations. For frequently asked questions related to the IPIN online service please click here.

How do I enter tournaments?

All entries must be submitted via IPIN. Once logged in to IPIN click on “Tournament Calendar” followed by the green “Enter” button for the specific tournament you wish to enter. If there is an issue with you entering a specific tournament IPIN will provide with an error message and reason why you could not be entered into the tournament.

Can I enter any tournament?

All players can submit an entry for any tournament. If there are restrictions on which players may compete in a tournament this will be included in the additional information of the tournament factsheet. For example, Regional Championships are only available to players with IPIN nationality of the region in which the tournament will be played in.

Can I enter multiple tournaments within the same week?

Yes. A player can enter up to three ITF WTT Juniors tournaments within the same week. Do note that a player may only remain accepted into one tournament beyond the withdrawal deadline. Players entered into multiple tournaments and accepted into at least one tournament will be withdrawn from all except one tournament based on the criteria outlined in the ITF WTT Juniors Regulations.

How old do I have to be to compete on the 2025 ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors?

Players must be at least 13 years old as of the first day of singles Main Draw in order to be able to compete in ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors tournaments. Players may compete in ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors tournaments until the end of the year in which the player turns 18 years old.

Are there different standards of tournaments? How do I know if I will be accepted into a tournament?

The standard of tournaments is determined by the grade. Higher graded tournaments offer more ranking points. Tournaments range in grade from J30 (lowest grade) to J500 (highest grade) and JGS (Junior Grand Slam). View the full Juniors calendar here.

Players starting out on the Tour should already be performing at a very high level in national tournaments. Ideally, the player should have experience of international competition, having already participated in tournaments organised by their regional association (for example Tennis Europe) before participating on the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors.

We recommend that a player new to the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors begins playing entry level tournaments, i.e. J30 and J60, but also that players use the Cut Offs document as a guide. This document explains what ITF Junior World Ranking, if any, was required to be accepted into the Qualifying Draw and Main Draw of a tournament in the previous year. The Cut Off Ranking is taken from the Acceptance List at the time of the tournament Freeze Deadline. This information can be used by players as a guide when organising a schedule of tournaments to enter via the IPIN online service. The Cut Offs document is available under 'Info For Players' in the resources section of the ITF website.

Is there a restriction on the number of tournaments a player may compete in based on their age?

Yes. The number of tournaments a player may compete in is restricted by their age. Full details can be found in Appendix G: ITF WORLD TENNIS TOUR JUNIORS AGE ELIGIBILITY RULE of the ITF WTT Juniors Regulations. The number of tournaments permitted is counted from a player’s birthday to the day before their following birthday and the age of the player is determined by their age on the first day of Main Draw.

Why can I not see my WTN on the acceptance lists for tournaments which I have entered?

Questions about a player’s World Tennis Number are best sent directly to the WTN Team using the following link:

https://wtn.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new

If you are not seeing your WTN taken into consideration for acceptance into ITF WTT Juniors tournament then this will be because your WTN is not yet verified. Once a player has competed in enough tournaments the WTN will be considered as verified and therefore taken into consideration for acceptance into ITF WTT Juniors tournaments.

I can no longer play a tournament which I am entered into, how do I withdraw?

If a player can no longer able play an event which they are entered into they must submit an official withdrawal via their IPIN account as soon as possible and no later than:

  • By the Qualifying sign-in deadline if they are a Qualifying accepted player OR
  • By their first match if they are a Main Draw accepted player

A player who fails to withdraw correctly from a tournament would be liable to receive a No-Show penalty. Any withdrawal submitted by a player on the Qualifying or Main Draw acceptance after the Withdrawal Deadline would be liable to receive a Late Withdrawal penalty. An Alternate player may withdraw at any time without penalty.

I have accidentally submitted a withdrawal / been automatically withdrawn from a tournament I wish to compete in, how do I still play in this tournament?

If the Entry Deadline for the tournament has not yet passed you may still re-enter the tournament via IPIN. If the Entry Deadline has passed you cannot be entered back into the tournament but may still be eligible to compete in the tournament, noting the following options:

  • Sign-in for the qualifying event as an On-site Alternate, should there still be a place in qualifying available. Empty spaces in qualifying are first filled with entered Alternates who sign in for the tournament followed by On-Site Alternates who sign-in for the tournament.
  • Are offered a Wildcard into the tournament by the Tournament Director. You would need to check and confirm that you are eligible to receive a Wildcard.

To sign in as an On-Site Alternate or to accept a Wild Card may depend on your commitment to another tournament in the same week. Players should refer to in Article II. B.3a Playing Another Event/One Tournament per Week of the ITF WTT Juniors Regulations to determine if they are eligible to compete in the tournament via either of these methods.

I have been withdrawn from a tournament, but I did not submit a withdrawal, why have I been withdrawn?

There are several reasons why a player may be withdrawn from a tournament by the ITF. These include but are not limited to:

  • Player had retained acceptance into one or more tournaments at the Withdrawal Deadline and was withdrawn via the criteria set out in regulation 39. Singles Entry and Withdrawal of the ITF WTT Juniors Regulations
  • Following the Withdrawal Deadline the player remained an Alternate for multiple tournaments however subsequently has moved from the Alternates list to the qualifying acceptance for one tournament. This will result in their automatic withdrawal from the Alternates list of all other tournaments in the same week
  • Player had retained Alternate position on multiple entry lists as at the Freeze Deadline. At this time the player is withdrawn from all except their highest Priority. Note that ITF WTT tournaments have a separate Freeze Deadline to ITF WTT Juniors tournaments. At the ITF WTT Freeze Deadline a player on the Alternates entry list of both ITF WTT and ITF WTT Juniors tournaments would remain entered into the ITF WTT tournament and be withdrawn from the ITF WTT Juniors tournament
  • Player is due to be suspended
  • Player has maxed out their allowance of tournaments via the Age Eligibility Rule

I’m currently entered into one tournament but wish to play a different tournament, how can I do this even though the entry deadline has passed?

If a player remains on the Main Draw or Qualifying acceptance for a tournament beyond the withdrawal deadline then they are committed to competing in the tournament. They may only play in a different tournament if they are meet one of the criteria outlined in Article II. B.3a Playing Another Event/One Tournament per Week of the ITF WTT Juniors regulations.

When can I withdraw without penalty?

Any withdrawal submitted by a player on the Qualifying or Main Draw acceptance after the Withdrawal Deadline would be liable to receive a Late Withdrawal penalty. An Alternate player may withdraw at any time without penalty.

All players receive three Late Withdrawal Amnesties per calendar year, which provide protection to players if they need to submit a late withdrawal for reasons outside of their control. If the player has any of these available, they will be automatically applied. Any further Late Withdrawals submitted by a player after they have used all three of their Late Withdrawal Amnesties will receive Suspension Points. The Late Withdrawal Amnesties do not apply to No Show penalties.

I have had to submit a late withdrawal for medical reasons, will I be excused from the late withdrawal penalty?

Where a late withdrawal is submitted for medical reasons, it can only be excused with an official on-site medical certificate. These can be requested from the ITF Supervisor at an ITF WTT Juniors tournament and must be completed by the on-site physio.

Private doctor’s notes cannot be used to excuse an individual Late Withdrawal penalty, they can however be used to couple together multiple Late Withdrawals into one penalty, i.e. so a player is not issued with multiple late withdrawal penalties for the same injury. If a player wished to couple together multiple late withdrawal penalties with a private doctors note this must be sent to juniors@itftennis.com for review. The doctor’s note must provide a date range for which players are unable to compete, and both offences must have taken place within the stated date range. The player must also have not competed in an ITF event between the two tournaments in question. The doctors note must either be in English or with an English translation provided.

What are the “History” and “Current Violations” sections within the Code of Conduct section of IPIN?

Offences appearing in “Current” are either active or pending (due to be active in the near future). Offences in the players “History” have either expired or been excused already. The number of suspension points associated with the offence will still be visible, but these suspension points in the “History” section will not be counted towards a player’s total for suspension.

What are suspension points?

Suspension points are separate to ranking points. If a player receives a suspension point this will not detract from the players total ranking points. Suspension points have no effect on a player unless they accumulate at least ten (10) suspension points in a twelve (12) month rolling period. At this time the player would receive a suspension from ITF WTT Juniors tournaments only for four (4) weeks. The player would be permitted to continue competing in ITF WTT Pro tournaments during this period.

Can I play in the qualifying of a tournament which is during my suspension period, if the Main Draw is due to take place once the suspension finishes?

Yes. All ITF WTT Juniors suspensions are due to run for four (4) consecutive tournament weeks therefore all suspensions end on a Sunday and players are permitted to compete in tournaments from the following tournament week, even if this involves participating in qualifying over the preceding weekend while the player is still in their suspension period.

Can I request the dates of my proposed suspension are altered?

No. It is not possible for a player to request that the dates of a proposed suspension are amended.

I have received an offence or suspension that I do not agree with. What can I do about this?

Note that the ITF Supervisor is the ITF authority on-site for enforcing the Code of Conduct and the ITF Juniors department will only interfere with the decision of the ITF Supervisor if the player is able to demonstrate that they did not commit the offence in question, or that the penalty has been applied to the wrong player. Full details on the appeals process can be found in the ITF WTT Juniors Regulations, 5B. Enforcement of Regulations and resolution of disputes, Appeals.

If a player wished to appeal an offence, they can notify the Juniors department by contacting juniors@itftennis.com. In doing so they should provide the following:

  • The player’s IPIN
  • The offence they do not agree with
  • Reasons for why the player does not agree with the penalty appeal
  • Any evidence to support the player’s position

It is not possible for a player to appeal a proposed suspension.

I need a visa invitation letter to travel to a tournament, how do I get one?

Ranked players can print a Visa Invitation Letter directly from their IPIN account by following these steps:

  • Go to my schedule
  • Player Dashboard
  • You should be able to see the automated visa IPIN letter when displaying the relevant tournament(s)

If an unranked player or a player support team member also requires a Visa Invitation Letter, you can reach out to any of the following to request a letter:

  • Named Visa Invitation Letter contact from the tournament factsheet
  • Tournament Director

Sanctioning National Association

How do I gain an ITF National Ranking?

The national ranking mentioned in the ITF WTT Juniors regulations is different to any national ranking earnt by a player competing in their own nations national competitions. To gain an ITF national ranking a player needs to be included on the list submitted to the ITF by national associations. National associations can generate this list by any means they wish and include up to 75 (seventy-five) boys and 75 (seventy-five) girls. An updated national ranking list can be submitted to the ITF Juniors department up to four (4) times a year.

When do I earn ranking points in ITF WTT Juniors tournaments?

In order to receive ranking points from an ITF WTT Juniors tournament, players must:

  • Reach a round where ranking points are offered. For details see the ranking points table in regulation 31. Allocation of Points in the ITF WTT Juniors regulations
  • Win at least one match in Main Draw. Advancement by virtue of Bye is not considered a match won, however advancement by virtue of walkover, or by retirement following the commencement of a match, will be equivalent to winning a round

I have not received ranking points from a tournament and believe I should have, why might this be?

If players have reached a round where ranking points are on offer, and won a round in Main Draw, but not received ranking points from the tournament, then this may be for one of the following reasons:

  • Player left the tournament prior to the completion of all required matches in the tournament without receiving an official on-site medical certificate
  • Player received default penalty from the tournament

If the above does not apply to the player and they believe they should still be entitled to ranking points, they should contact juniors@itftennis.com.

My tournament was not able to finish due to adverse weather conditions, do I still receive ranking points?

If a tournament is unable to complete players will receive loser ranking points for the round which they have reached. Note players are still required to have won a round in Main Draw. Additionally players are required to be on-site and ready to play until the last published day of the event. Any player who leaves from the tournament prior to the last published day of the event without completing all their required matches would be liable to receive a Leaving the Tournament penalty and forfeit ranking points earnt at the tournament.
