Gustavo Fernandez (ARG) and Natalia Mayara (BRA) won the men's and women's singles gold medals at the second Parapan American Youth Games in Bogotá, Colombia, which was held from 15-25 October.
The Games were a great success, with 16 players representing five nations - Argentina, Brazil, Chile, host nation Colombia and Ecuador - contesting the wheelchair tennis event at the splendid facilities offered by the High Performance Centre in Bogotá.
Top seed Fernandez went on to win the men's singles title, beating Brazilian Rafael Medeiros 63 63 in in a final featuring a high level of tennis.
The bronze medal match between Chilean Diego Perez and Argentine Ezequiel Casco, ended with Casco winning 63 36 61 after almost two hours of play.
Fernandez and Casco won gold in the men's doubles, the silver medal going to the Brazilian pairing of Pedro Farjala and Medeiros, while Colombia's Andres Florez and Juan Gutierrez won the bronze medal.
In the women's singles, Mayara beat Colombia's Maria Angelica Bernal 64 61 in the final.
A mixed doubles match was won by Mayara and Medeiros, who beat Bernal and Florez.
The Parapan Americas Youth Games was organized by the Americas Paralympic Committee and the Colombian Paralympic Committee, with Ivan Francisco Anzola as Tournament Director.
