| New Super Series events for 2010 NEC Tour |
The ITF is pleased to announce the addition of two new Super Series status tournaments to the 2010 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour after the Florida Open and the BNP Paribas French Open were both awarded Super Series status.
The 2010 NEC Tour will therefore feature a total of five tournaments at Super Series level with the Florida Open and the BNP Paribas French Open joining the Japan Open, the British Open and the US Open in St Louis as the top tier of stand alone wheelchair events on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
This is in response to proposals agreed by the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee in 2008 and continues the evolution of the NEC Tour following the innovation in 2009 to make the wheelchair tennis tournaments at the four Grand Slams the top tier of world ranking event on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
The five Super Series events on the 2010 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour will be:
Florida Open: April 7-11
Japan Open: May 12-16
BNP Paribas French Open: June 22-27
British Open: July 20-25
US Open USTA Wheelchair Tennis Championships: September 14-19
