The wheelchair tennis department of Indonesian Tennis Association (PELTI) together with the National Paralympics Committee of Indonesia (NPC) invited 25 wheelchair tennis players and 7 tennis coaches to Solo-City for a four days coaching clinic.

The clinic received high attention from the local community. The mayor of Solo-City, the president of NPC, Mr. Senny Marbun and the president of PELTI, Mr. Maman Wiryawan all made speeches at the opening ceremony, and the local press reported about the clinic.

The camp was lead by Horst Guentzel, member of the wheelchair tennis coaches group of ITF. Six hours of tennis and fitness practice plus an information session for players and coaches was carried out. Players which started a few months ago with wheelchair tennis and players with already a few years experience in wheelchair tennis participated and gave in all sessions their best. The players came from eight provinces of Indonesia and it was a good experience for all to practice together, to communicate and enjoy the camp.

The camp was a first step of PELTI and NPC in their new concept to develop wheelchair tennis in Indonesia. Further activities of the ITF WTDF in partnership with the Cruyff Foundation are in Indonesia are being anticipated to further the sport in the region.
