Scheffers and Vink win Camozzi Doubles Masters title

News Article

Maikel Scheffers and Ronald Vink (NED) won the Men's title at the Camozzi Doubles Masters for the first time on Sunday in Montichiari, Italy.

Fourth seeds Scheffers and Vink thwarted third seeds Michael Jeremiasz and Jayant Mistry's bid for back-to-back titles in the end-of-year doubles highlight on the NEC Tour, winning the final 62 36 63 to secure by the far the biggest of their three doubles titles of 2006.

Jeremiasz and Mistry have now finished as runners-up in three of the last four finals.

Earlier in the day the tournament's top two seeded pairings went head-to-head in the play-off for third and fourth places, with second seeds Robin Ammerlaan (NED) and Shingo Kuneida (JPN) ending their first tournament together as doubles partners with a 46 62 62 win over top seeds and twice former champions Satoshi Saida (JPN) and Martin Legner (AUT).
