The ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee has made an amendment to the rule concerning participation in the BNP Paribas World Team Cup and eligibility for the Paralympic Tennis Event.
Nations must compete in the BNP Paribas World Team Cup twice within the Paralympic cycle in order for players to be eligible for the Paralympic Tennis Event. Countries that do not meet this criterion would need special consideration by the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee.
With regards the current Paralympic cycle to Rio 2016, nations should compete once during the current Paralympic cycle and twice in the period 2017-2020.
The ITF Wheelchair Tennis Committee can give exceptions in special cases.
The full qualification criteria for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Tennis Event will be published early in 2014.
