2012 Invacare Doubles Masters
ITF Wheelchair Tennis Sponsor Invacare have today announced that South African double amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius will be among the guests at Invacare’s first International Forum, to be held during the 2012 Invacare Doubles Masters on 14-18 November at the Frans Otten Stadium in Amsterdam.
The Invacare International Forum on Thursday, 15 November, has the theme “Making Life’s Experiences Possible™”, which is taken from Invacare’s brand promise, and follows on from the success of the Invacare International Symposium held at previous World Team Cups and the inaugural Invacare Doubles Masters in 2011.
Pistorius, dubbed the ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘the fastest man on no legs’ in recent years, is a multi-medal-winning South African Paralympic sprinter, who has transcended Paralympic sport to become one of the most recognisable athletes in the world after reaching the men’s 400m semi-finals at the 2011 IAAF World Athletics Championships and the London 2012 Olympics.
The Forum will be hosted by Ade Adepitan (wheelchair basketball player and TV presenter) and Martin McElhatton (ITF Wheelchair Committee Member and Chief Executive of WheelPower).
After Pistorius’s interview about his own experiences in the sporting arena and life in general, the second half of the forum will include several International debates addressing various topics, such as Sport Products Development, the Importance of Sport in Personal Development of Disabled Children and Disabled Sport and Media Coverage
