Nigeria sealed their place in Men’s World Group 2 for May’s BNP Paribas World Team Cup in Seoul, Korea, after defeating Morocco in both singles rubbers of their play-off final at the qualification event for Africa, in Nairobi, Kenya.
Yusuf Wasiu took an hour and 20 minutes to take the opening singles rubber against Morroco’s Ahmed Jeddi 63 61, while Alex Adewale took just ten minutes less to give Nigeria an unassailable lead when he defeated Boukartacha Lhaj 62 63.
Bakhtali Mohamed came in to partner Lhaj for the dead doubles rubber and the contest turned out to be the most fascinating of the day as the Moroccan duo recovered from a slow start to defeat Adewale and Wasiu 06 76(5) (10-6).
