Joachim Gerard, Katharina Kruger and Greg Hasterok won the men’s, women’s and quad singles titles on Sunday’s last day of the Bavarian Indoor Open, part of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour. Diede de Groot and Bianca Osterer sealed a dramatic win in the women’s doubles at the ITF 2 Series event in Nuremberg.
Belgian top seed Gerard secured his third successive Bavarian Indoor men’s title with a comfortable 61 62 victory over second seed Nicolas Peifer of France. He added singles vicotry to the men’s doubles title he won on Saturday with Frederic Cattaneo.
After finishing runner-up in 2012, Kruger justified her top seeding to regain the women’s singles title as she won her second Bavarian Indoor title with 63 64 victory over her fellow German and second seed Bianca Osterer.
However, Osterer gained some compensation in the women’s doubles when she partnered de Groot to edge out top seeds Kruger and Pauline Helouin of France 61 46 [11-9] after a deciding match tiebreak, a result that gave 16-year-old Cruyff Foundation Junior Masters champion de Groot her first senior doubles title.
A little over a year after winning the first ITF 2 Series title of his career, Hasterok gained his second as the American top seed defeated second seed Stephane Erismann of France 63 62 in the quad singles final. Hasterok finished the tournament with a brace of titles, having already partnered Marcus Jonsson of Sweden to win the quad doubles.
