Top seed and 2011 runner-up Frederic Cattaneo of France will play Polish fourth seed Tadeusz Kruszelnicki in Sunday’s men’s singles final at the Slovakia Open, part of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour, after Britain’s Lucy Shuker successfully retained the women’s singles title in Trnava.

All four top seeds reached the men’s singles semifinals before Kruszelnicki clinched an enthralling semifinal against Swedish second seed Peter Vikstrom 63 06 75.

In the other semifinal Cattaneo survived a first set tiebreak, but had much the better of the exchanges in the second seed to beat third seed Martin Legner of Austria 76(6) 62.

The women’s singles ended with a comfortable title defence for Shuker, who won the last of her round-robin matches against Brigitte Seyer of Austria 60 60 to gain her second win in three days without dropping a game.

The top two seeded partnerships contested the men’s doubles final, with Legner and Vikstrom subsequently justifying their top seeding to beat Cattaneo and Kruszelnicki 61 63.
