While a number of junior players continue to make an impact on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour, over the last decade an increasing number of competitive opportunities have become available for junior players internationally.
Wheelchair tennis has become a fixture at the prestigious 'Les Petits As' tournament for able-bodied junior players in Tarbes, France.
Since 1994, the Les Petits As Junior Wheelchair Tennis Cup has become an increasingly significant event for some of the top junior wheelchair tennis players internationally..
Since the Johan Cruyff Foundation became a partner of the ITF Junior Wheelchair Tennis Programme, the event has become known as the Cruyff Foundation Junior Masters. Selection for this event is made based on the previous year's November Junior Ranking.
Singles and Doubles competititons have also become a significant part of ITF International Junior Wheelchair Tennis Camps, such as the camps held in the Europe/Africa, Asia/Oceania and Americas Zones.
Players taking part in the Cruyff Foundation Junior Masters, competitions at the Cruyff Foundation International Junior Wheelchair Tennis Camps and the junior events at NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour events can earn themselves ranking points to go towards the Cruyff Foundation International Wheelchair Tennis Junior Ranking, which was launched early in 2005.
Since 2000, a Junior event has also been a part of the programme at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup, the ITF's annual flagship wheelchair tennis team event.
Only boys and girls born on or after 1 January 1995 are eligible to compete in ITF Wheelchair Tennis Junior Events in 2013.
