The Austria Cup is for the men's 55 age category and was first contested in 1977 in Baden, Austria.
A year earlier, Dr. Walter Spiess had proposed a new event for this age category on behalf of the Austrian Tennis Association.
In 2013, the Austria Cup was held on 18-23 March in Antalya, Turkey. Australia's record eight-year winning streak was ended as third seed Great Britain won the title with a final win over top seeded USA. The Great Britain team was composed of Paul French, Steve Alger, Alec Allen and Bruce Young.
