Jack Crawford Cup

Jack Crawford in Action
Jack Crawford is best remembered for the 1933 Wimbledon final in which he defeated Elsworth Vines after five sets of what many still claim was the most entertaining title match of all time. He also won the French singles championship in 1935 and the Australian title in 1931 and '33. He was a formidable doubles player and collected the titles at both the French Championships and Wimbledon in 1935, with Adrian Quist, and the Australian doubles four times with three different partners. He played in the Davis Cup from 1928 - 1937 and won 36 of 58 rubbers during that time.

The Crawford Cup was put up by the Seniors Tennis Association of Australia in 1983 for men players in the seventy age category. The inaugural event was held in Brand, Austria.

In 2008 the event will be staged in October in Antalya, Turkey.
