In 1976, Dr Walter Spiess, a member of the International Veterans Tennis Association, proposed a new Cup for men in the fifty-five age category on behalf of the Austrian Tennis Association.
The Austria Cup is presented annually to the winning team of the ITF Seniors World Team Championships for men in the 55 age group.
The inaugural event was played in Baden b. Wien, Austria in 1977.
The 2006 event took place from 17-22 April in Durban, South Africa. Australia retained their title, defeating the USA in the final. Results can be found below.
The 2007 Austria Cup took place from 23-28 April in Antalya, Turkey. Australia won the title for the third year in a row, defeating the USA in a repeat of last year's final. Results can be found below.
The 2008 will take place from the 12-18 October in Antalya, Turkey. The team nominations can be found below.
