Romanians Dominate on Home Soil

A successful week of tennis ended in Bucharest at the Altius Tennis Cup with Romanian players taking home all the titles on offer.

Marius Raicea (ROU) was victorious in the over 35 category, comprehensively beating fellow countryman, Sorin GHITA (ROU). Currently ranked number 16 in the ITF Seniors rankings, Raicea claimed his second title inside the last twelve months after also winning the 23rd International Veterans Championships of Romania - Mobexpert last August.

The largest event of the week was the over 50 category, won by Laurentiu Bucur (ROU). He did not drop a set all week and also teamed up with Cristian Tudor Popescu (ROU) to win the the doubles event in the same age category. 

The most senior age category on show was the over 70 event. The final was a closely fought affair with Alexandru Viorel Popescu (ROU) getting the better of Emerich Szakacs (ROU) 57 62 75.
