Returning women's champions shine at the Memorial Franco

MILANO SAN FELICE, ITALY: Upgraded for the third consecutive year, this Grade 2 event offered players the opportunity to complete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Although at times during the event the weather caused many problems, the tournament completed with 15 singles finals, four doubles and one mixed doubles final. 

Participation figures were great to see with 20 per cent increase in singles as well as a big increase in doubles and mixed doubles.

Italian Elena Scola, world ranked No. 3 in the women's 45s, was one of four women to retain her title, alongside compatriots Idle Lalli, Carola Kluzer and Tonina Giambelluca.

Lalli also added the mixed doubles title to her collection with partner Constanza Greco.

Of the ten men’s age categories played, only Salvatore Garofalo matched the four women in retaining his 2012 crown in the mens 60s after beating fellow countryman Marco Botteri in a tight three-set match.
