Siegrun Fuhrmann (GER)

Siegrun Fuhrmann, a well known German Seniors tennis player, died aged 72 on 2nd April. Fuhrmann, from Dusseldof, won the women’s 50 doubles at the 1993 ITF Seniors World Individual Championships in Barcelona with her partner Brigitte Hoffman (GER).

Siegrun also represented Germany with distinction in numerous ITF Seniors World Team Championships and in 2008 was a member of the German Kitty Godfree cup team (women’s 65) who triumphed. She was also a distinguished competitor on the ITF Seniors Circuit, winning numerous events across Europe and reaching a career high world ranking of 3.

Fuhrmann was popular amongst fellow seniors players for her sense of humour and the ITF was greatly saddened to hear of her death.
