Lidskoe Pivo Cup enjoys success after upgrade

Lidskoe Pivo Cup

LIDA, BELARUS; After a successful event in 2012, the Lidskoe Pivo Cup was upgraded to Grade 3.  Offering singles, doubles and mixed doubles in most age categories.

The Mens over 35 Category was won by second seed Pavel Sukhotski of Belarus who progressed to the final without dropping a set.  He was to take the title against fellow countryman Fedor Sknarin 64 64.

Irina Khripach from Belarus was to enjoy a perfect week.  After taking the women’s over 35 singles title, she was to add doubles and mixed doubles title to her collection.

Tadas Tarasevicius of Lithonia was to claim the men’s over 50s title after defeating Arvydas Tverijonas in a tight 3 set final.  Tarasevicius headed into the final as the favourite after beating Tverijonas in their last two meetings in straight sets.  An upset looked possible after Tadas lost the first set 57.  He was however to take the title after winning the next two sets in a more convincing manner 62 61

Russian Franc Nunikyan, also enjoyed a great week winning the men’s 55s singles title for the second consecutive year as well as winning the mixed over 45 partnering Marina Zakurdaeva of Russia.

In addition to the tennis, players were also greeted with an Opening Ceremony with a traditional programme. 

The tournament finished with an official dinner and entertainment during the Prize giving ceremony.
