Jim Courier (USA) and Karl Hale (JAM)

The first Jamaica ITF Seniors Championships was a smashing success.  Held at the luxurious Tryall Club and featuring 70 players from Great Britain, Canada, USA, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Panama, and Barbados, the week began with a clinic that included 35 people.

Participants in the tournament included former Jamaican Davis Cup players Nicholas Malcolm, and Karl and Robert Hale.  There were two complimentary cocktail parties and a great closing awards party.

Rogers Cup Tournament Director and Donalda Club Head Professional Karl Hale played an exhibition against former world No. 1, Jim Courier at the Tryall Club in Jamaica. The American triumphed 64 in an exhibition that featured some spectacular shot making after Hale was up a break 3-2.

Funds were raised for tennis programmes for inner city children in Kingston, Jamaica. More than 200 participants were on hand to watch a great display of tennis.  The event was supported by Stonegate Private Counsel and Hi Lyte soft drinks.

Planning for the second annual event from 21-27 April 2015 is underway. In 2015, funds will go towards building a basic school in Hanover, Jamaica.
