MARKHAM, ONTARIO, CANADA: Another successful and memorable tournament has ended with the second stop on the 2012 Wilson/Mayfair Senior ITF Tour.

Over 135 players entered across 10 different age categories, including representation from 7 different countries. Many of those foreign players featured in the finals on Sunday.

In the Men’s Over 45, Italian Simone Gentili (playing in his first ITF Senior's tournament) reached the final before losing to #1 seed Charles Gembes, 63 64.

In the Men’s Over 45 final, Francisco Mehech from Chile lost in the final to perennial favourite Karl Hale 60 62. Coming off his recent Semifinal performance in the ITF Seniors World Championships in San Diego, Hale was dominant form, losing only 6 games throughout the tournament.

The marathon match of the day took place in the Women’s Over 55 final. At 67 years of age, Mary Ann Gaskin from Canada defeated German Claudia Rohde 61 46 76(6) in over 3 hours to win her first Senior ITF tournament this year.

This tournament also featured an appearance by Taras Beyko from Canada, the current world number one in the Men’s 40+ age category. Beyko had stiff competition, but still managed to win the tournament, defeating Matthew Akman (CAN) 75 62 in the final.

All in all, another successful ITF Seniors tournament at Mayfair.

The next stop on the Wilson/Mayfair Senior ITF circuit takes place from April 13-15. For more information contact Tournament Director Josh Weissman at jweissman@mayfairclubs.com or sign up online with your IPIN at www.itftennis.com/ipin.
