Gerrards Cross Seniors International Tournament
The annual Gerrards Cross International Seniors Tournament was held 4-8 September and those who participated were greeted with fine sunshine all week long. The event again had a excellent influx of top players from around the globe, seeking to experience the joy of playing on the clubs pristine grass courts. Spain, Sweden, Italy, Germany, France and even Scotland and Wales were all represented. Many of the usual suspects claimed titles although new entries were in abundance too.
Special mention is due to Mark Rowe who had to fight hard all week to retain his 45 title. Gary Minns gave a very athletic serve and volley master class and was unlucky to be edged by the dogged and colourful Rowe in three sets, 36 60 63. One local player secured a title during the week and it was none other than Bull Lane's own, Peter Davidson. Davidson teamed up with Bev Wilson to take home the M60 doubles trophy, defeating the Hertfordshire pairing of Alan Roberts and Barry Skelding.
