The Dutch crowd at the ZTC Shot in Zeist, Netherlands were treated to a dominant performance by the host nation’s players as they took 11 of the 14 singles titles on offer last week in the Grade 3 event.

Despite a number of top German and Slovakian players entered into the field dominant performances from home-town favourites such as Carole de Bruin, who walked away with no fewer than three titles to her name, meant that the appreciative crowd went home happy.

Oliver Eggers and Roman Groteloh were notable exceptions to this as the German pair took the singles prize in the men’s 35 and men’s 40 respectively. Gustavo Perziano of Argentina was the only other non-Dutch male to win an event when he put the disappointment of having to retire from the singles final behind him to win the mixed doubles 35.

Latvia’s Regina Balcune, playing in her first tournament on the ITF Senior Circuit, showed that she is a potential force to be reckoned with in the women’s 35 category as she swept the singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles.
