Torneo Internacional San Isidro
BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: Torneo Internacional San Isidro, a Grade 1 ITF Seniors Circuit event, took place from 5-11th November in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Played across the 14 clay courts of the Club Nautico San Isidro Tennis Club the event offered events across 10 age categories in singles and doubles.
South America plays host to 6 events over the next 6 weeks including 3 Grade 1's which will play a big part in deciding the identity 2012 year end World Champions.
The tournament saw many returning players from the previous year including 2011 men’s winners including Ramiro Karis (ARG), Christian Segni (ARG), Javier Farias (ARG), Roberto (ARG) Lugones, Eduardo Tello (ARG), Peter Adrigan (GER) and Linhares Dos Santos (BRA).
The women’s event also saw many returning players from 2011 including the women’s 50s champions Mariana Matilde Metola, 60s chamption Alena Klein, 65s women’s titleholder Sylvie Galfard-Kirsten (FRA) and Nanda Fisher (GER) (women’s 75s champion) return to try to retain their title in 2012.
Ramiro Karis looked on target to retain his 2011 Men’s 35s title after progressing to the semi final without dropping a set. He was stopped in his tracks by fellow countryman German Holzcan who defeated Karis 64 61. Holzcan was to continue his own fine form in the final to take the title 62 61 against Luis Claudio E'Halli Obeid .
There was success for Cristian Segni in the mens 40s and Javier Farias in the men’s 45's, with both players retaining their titles from 2011.
Current World Number One, Peter Adrigan continued his impressive year retaining his title in the Men's 60's. This adds to the European Closed, Torneo Internacional de la Republica, 9th International Wilson Senior Open by Ali Bey Club Manavgat and ITF Seniors Circuit Brasilia titles he has won in 2012.
German Alena Klein and Sylvie Galfard-Kirsten from France retained their 2011 titles in the women’s 60s and 65s age categories respectively.
Current world number 2 Nanda Fischer retained her title in the women’s 70 without dropping a set.
The final women’s singles event of the tournament saw Ines Marta Pla (ARG) take the women’s 80s title after winning all of her matches in the round robin event.
