Lidskoe Beer Cup

LIDA, BELARUS:  Tennis Club Lida Drive was the fine setting for the third time to host the ITF Seniors Tournament Lidskoe Beer (Pivo).  Sponsorship was provided by the famous factory Lidskoe Beer (PIVO).  This was an opportunity to see some of the best senior’s players from Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania and Belarus to participate.

The tournament welcomed more than 100 players to its event including 6 players from the top 100 ITF world ranked players and more than 10 players from the ITF top 200.

This year many titles were awarded to players from above mentioned countries.

In the men’s 35s, Evgeny Terekhin (RUS) beat  Maxim Dubrovenski (BLR) after fighting back from losing the first set 46 to take the next two 76 64.

The biggest surprise was witnessed in the men’s 40s as Tarashi Kikaleishvili took the title although before this tournament had no ITF world ranking points.

Russian, Oleg Vasiliev was to take the men’s 45s title after beating Vladimir Beliank of Belarus 63 64. 

Current world number 114 Valery Olkov was to cause another tournament upset by beating favourite Tadas Tarasevicius (LTU) in the men’s 50s 63 64

Sergey Khokhrin (UKR) took the next title on offer (men’s 55s) after beating Aleksandr Gegchkori (GEO) 63 64

Top seed Valdimir Nazarenko was to take the title in the men’s 60s

Algirdas Gailius from Lithuania won title in the men’s 65s after beating Joans Leskevicius 63 75

Yuriy Pavlov (RUS) from Moscow won the title in men's 70s after beating fellow countryman Aleksei Siaemov.

In the women’s events Tatiana Stukova from Lithuania took the title in the women's 40s after winning a hard fought battle against Ekaterina Sudnik from Belarus62 57 75

In the women’s 50s Irina Klimova took the title after defeating Irina Deyneko 64 63

Despite the problems caused by many rain delays, all events including the doubles and mixed doubles were completed on time which was as a result of the excellent team of organisers.

The Official dinner was a great success with the Lida’s Folk group demonstrating at a very high level the national Belarus Song and dance.
