Tennys Sandgren began this month competing in the Winnipeg Challenger but saw his participation ended in the opening round in a very closely fought match where he went out 46 64 76(6) to Japan's Go Soeda.

Following this Challenger loss, Sandgren saw action in two ITF Pro Circuit tournaments in the US state of Illinois and during the first of these, held in Godfrey and as the top seed, he celebrated his 25th birthday a couple of days ahead of taking the title, losing just four games in the final.

A semifinal loss in the doubles event, partnered by fellow American Rhyne Williams, to the eventual tournament runners-up ended hopes of a clean sweep of the titles.

In his final tournament of the month, Sandgren was seeded second in Edwardsville where he saw off stiff competition in the semifinal and final, requiring wins in three sets in both matches to add a second title to his collection.
