Woong-Sun Jun from Korea is the featured player for April. Playing in only three Futures events during the month, he was the champion in two of these in the singles. Jun took part in Futures events in Japan and after a slow start at F1, he came back strongly to win at F2 and F3.
The 19 year old from Seoul, seeded five, was knocked out in the second round of Japan F1 in Tokyo by Yaoki Ishii from Japan, 64 75. Jun then paired up with Daniel Yoo for the doubles, but they were defeated by the eventual finalists Dong-Hyun Kim and Oh-Hee Kwon, both from Korea 61 63.
The action then moved on to Kofu, where Jun took the title without dropping a set. Again seeded 5, Jun moved easily through the early rounds, before a close final against local favourite Tetsuya Chaen, winning 76(4) 75.
Jun partnered up with compatriot Sun-Yong Kim for the doubles event. Seeded No.1 they did not lose a set and were crowned champions after defeating Minh Le and Hiroyasu Sato 62 76(4).
The final futures of the series in Japan was played in Shizuoka, with Jun able to continue his good run of form and claim his second title in consecutive weeks in the singles. He came through a tough match against Christoph Palmanshofer from Austria in the second round, winning the first set tie break 13-11. In the final, Jun fought back after losing the first set to fellow Korean Sun-Yong Kim to take the match and the title 26 63 63.
Jun again partnered Kim in the doubles, but the top seeds lost in the semi final to Tai-Wei Liu and Chu-Huan Yi, from Chinese Taipei 75 75.
In three events, Jun won two titles and earned a total of 25 points, taking his tally to 37 for 2006.
