$10,000 Chiswick - Donna Vekic and Bojanna Bobusic - singles finalists
On 28 June 2011 Donna Vekic from Croatia celebrated turning 15 and one month later she was again celebrating, this time the occasion was her first ITF Pro Circuit title.
The teenager’s success came in Chiswick, a large suburb of London, England where a $10,000 tournament was held.
Vekic, who is based near the tournament venue at the Dukes Meadow Club, claimed the title by coming from a set down to inflict a third singles final defeat of 2011, and career fourth, on her 23-year-old opponent and No. 2 seed Bojana Bobusic from Australia.
The loss of the first set in her 36 63 63 triumph was the only set dropped by the impressive teenager, who was playing in her second career ITF Pro Circuit final having also reached the final in Hvar, Croatia during April 2011, all week.
With a first title now secured by the highly rated player, Vekic will now be looking to build on this early career success and make a quick rise up the WTA rankings. For her defeated opponent the wait for an elusive first singles title continues.
Donna Vekic, remember the name!
