BRONX, NY, USA: 22-year-old Alison Riske heads the US entrants as America looks for its first singles champion here in a decade and only a third winner since the tournament came onto the calendar back in 1996!
Riske is one of 16 players ranked within the Top 200, as at the tournaments entry deadline, to feature on the main draw list.
Fellow compatriots joining her in the main draw are Chi Chi Scholl, Tetiana Luzhanska and Maria Sanchez. All will be looking to emulate the success of Ashley Harkleroad, the last American to triumph in the singles event here back in 2002.
At the head of the entry list is Romina Oprandi from Switzerland who ranked at 61 as of the entry deadline date.
