TSUKUBA, JAPAN: Yasutaka Uchiyama made a successful defence of his 2010 title in Tsukuba, having been unable to do so last year following the tournament's cancellation in the aftermath of the tsunami and earthquake that hit the nation in March 2011.

The 19-year-old top seed dropped just one set all week as he moved effortlessly through the draw to claim his second singles title of the year and a career fourth with a 75 64 defeat of Liang-Chi Huang (TPE).

More good news followed the Japanese player's latest title win as the ATP Rankings released on 9 April 2012 saw the Florida-based teenager rise to a new career high ranking of No. 378.
