THA F5 - Loy Krathong Festival
Following on from the success of the three ITF Pro Circuit tournaments held in Khon Kaen, Thailand earlier in the year, the ITF Pro Circuit recently returned to the nation for two more tournaments which were this time staged in Phuket.
Triumphing in the Phuket singles events were Soong-Jae Cho who claimed his second career singles title whilst in the second tournament it was Laurent Rochette who in winning a seventh singles title of his Pro career became the first Frenchman to win in Thailand on the ITF Pro Circuit.
The doubles events of the Khon Kaen tournaments were dominated by the pairing of Weerapat Doakmaiklee & Kittiphong Wachiramanowong who claimed the title at all three tournaments but this was not to continue in Phuket.
The pair only competed together once in Phuket and that came in the opening tournament and as third seeds were eliminated in the second round. Wachiramanowong did not compete in the second tournament forcing Doakmaiklee to seek out a new partner. In Karati Siributwong he found a more than able replacement and they progressed to a runners-up finish as Doakmaiklee made it four finals contested from the five tournaments held in Thailand this year.
