THA F2 - Laurent Rochette (runner-up) and Milos Raonic (champion)
Singles runner up at Thailand F1, Milos Raonic, went one step further in the second of this series of three Futures in Nonthaburi as he claimed the singles title in what was his third appearance in a singles final this year.
In a thrilling final, lasting 2 hours 35 minutes, Raonic overcame the challenge from 21-year old Frenchman, Laurent Rochette, also playing in his third singles final of 2009, to win 67(1) 76(2) 75. At one stage it appeared as though Raonic would be collecting another runners-up trophy as Rochette prepared to serve for the match whilst leading 76(1) 54 but Raonic produced some brilliant returns to level the set at 5 all and then pressed on to eventually take the set 7-2 on a tiebreak to level the match.
The deciding set proved to be another closely fought battle between the two players and was won 75 by Raonic to take the title. Raonic, who during the course of the match faced three match points, served a total of 24 aces (Rochette: 11), hit 31 winners (Rochette: 32) but produced 32 unforced errors (Rochette: 13).
The doubles title went to the Indonesian pairing of Ketut-Nesa Arta and Christopher Rungkat. In the final they defeated Tasuku Iwami and Hiroki Moriya, both from Japan, 46 64 [12-10].
