Among the players competing for a place in the $50,000 Waterloo singles main draw this coming weekend will be the Abanda and Chypyha sisters.

Of the Abanda sisters, elder sister Elisabeth, 18, a singles quarterfinalist and doubles champion here in 2010, has regularly competed on the ITF Pro Circuit over the past few years, mainly in her native Canada, whilst for her 15-year-old sister Francoise, who is currently competing in the Junior Wimbledon event as the fourteenth seed, this tournament will be her first experience of the Pro Circuit.

The other sisters set to feature in the qualifying event are Lauren, 17, and Devin, 16, Chypyha. These two Canadians both have a limited Pro Circuit experience themselves having competed in late 2011 in a $50,000 Toronto tournament although Lauren, who will turn 18 the day qualifying begins on Saturday, did feature in this tournament in 2009.
